About
- The South African Japanese Sword Society
The South African Japanese Sword Society was originally founded by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic scholars with the aim of promoting the study and collecting of NIHONTO. With our first journal on the various aspects of the Japanese sword we aim to dispel some of the mystery surrounding these swords, and make the subject more accessible to all interested parties.
Members will have access to regular informal gatherings where swords and fittings will be discussed and workshops will be presented on various aspects relating to the Japanese sword and its related subjects.
Apart from recovering expenses on our publications, membership is free and the only qualification to join is some keen interest in the subject.
Our members will do their outmost to assist with all matters and will offer their advise to the best of their ability.
We have compiled a recommended list of books catering for the novice as well as the advanced student, however there are a lot of publications and info available on the Internet, and on a South-African-run forum called the Nihonto Message Board, interested parties can find information related to the Japanese sword with many links to other good resources.
